Modes and features converting conventional instruments into distributed control system were introduced together with the main factors in revamping design and implementation. It was pointed out that the revamping of DCS should be adapted to the direction of long period technical development of the plant, the consciousness of cost protection, central management and dispersed control etc. should be strengthenal. Rules for selecting DCS were introduced with practical examples.
