温州经过两宋的文风洗礼,读书人的队伍日益扩大,人心向善的风气深入人心。到明清两代工商业日益发达,社会日益趋向稳定,官民合办慈善成了当时的社会风气。由于地方政府官员的提倡,慈善的设施更加完备,各类慈善机构规模日渐壮大。

After severe test for writing style in Song dynasties, the ranks of scholars are constantly expanding and the idea of kindness is deeply rooted among people. With development of industry and business in Ming and Qing dynasties, the society tends to be stable, therefore, officer-folk cooperative charities become the general mood of society at that time. Due to local officer＇s encouragement, charities facilities become more complete and the scale of charities organization grows stronger and stronger.
