术语能反映科学技术和社会进步程度,术语的跨语域使用自有其科学、社会、功能、认知等方面的原因。"期望值"作为概率论和统计学术语,通过类比、引申等方式映射到其他领域,使用频率大幅提高,语义扩大功能增多,从专门术语领域进入普通词汇,并成为现代汉语一般词汇。

Terminology can reflect the developments of science, technology, and society. The register use of terminology has its own scientific, social, functional and cognitive reasons. As a term of probability theory and statistics, ＂Expectation Value＂ is mapped into other fields by the way of analogy and extending, or some other methods. The significant increase of the use frequency, the expansion of the semantics and the growth of the functions make ＂ Expectation Value＂ develop and change from the specialized terminological fields into popular vocabulary, and become one of modern Chinese common words.
