What is the "卷耳" in The Book of Songs on earth? It has been misunderstood for centuries. Many people regard the "卷耳" as cocklebur, or as volume hedyotis. Through surveying the history of annotations on it, referring to the verses in which it turns up and doing some field work about the surroundings where it grows, we draw a conclusion that "卷耳' is the so-called "ground ear", an edible plant combining fungi and algae. It usually can be seen on the wet ground after rains in summer and fall.
