On the Cultural Pursuit and Cultural Mission of the University

大学是一种传承和创新文化为己任的独特的文化组织,文化追求是大学的本真特质和独有性格。转型社会带来的社会文化冲击,威胁着大学的文化价值,挑战着大学的文化使命。大学要为未来负责,就应该担当起创新文化、涵养人性、砥砺品性、引领思想的使命,惟其如此,大学才能回归本真、体现价值和展现其应有的魅力。

The university is a special cultural organization that takes as its mission transmit and to rejuvenate culture. A society that is in a transformation stage poses challenges to the cohesion of its culture, to the cultural values of the university and its cultural mission. However, as the university is one of the most farsighted institutions of a society, it shall not deny the mission to shape culture, to enrich and to promote humanism and to lead the progress of the society. Only thus doing, can a university actualize itself and gain social respect.
