Being the well known translator in the translation history in China, Mu Mutian has translated large amounts of literary works by Balzac, including most of the majority works in La Com 6 die Humaine. His translation was faithful to the original works mainly in literal translation with lots of annotations, which was popular among the readers at that time. In the same time, the great contributions made on the spreading and teaching of Balzac in China by Mu Mutian should also be remembered.
