The Origin and Evolution of Saddle

人类驯服马之后,随着马在人们生活中占据越来越重要的地位,马鞍就应时代要求而产生。马鞍成为人们生活、征战、狩猎、竞赛等必不可少的马上用具。通过对马鞍考古资料、文献的发掘与记载,梳理了中国古代马鞍的发展历程,经过初级阶段、转变阶段和发展阶段,逐渐演变为现代的马鞍。

After being tamed by human, horses play a more and more important role in our daily, so the need of saddles comes into being with time. Saddles become the necessary equipments in people＇s life, war, hunting and competitions, etc. Through exploring archaeological and literature materials about saddles, this thesis sorts the development process of ancient Chinese saddles. There are three stages in saddles＇ development process： the initial stage, the transition stage and development stage, and then, they gradually evolve into modern saddles.
