摘要
首先分析了两种应用程序结构—文件服务器与两层客户/服务器的局限性，在总结COM模型对分布式应用程序良好支持的基础上，对三层客户/服务器模型以及基于此模型的三种不同物理配置进行了深入讨论。
In the analysis of two types of application structure, file server structure and two-layer Client/Server structure, the shortcoming of both are pointed out. The author summarizes the Component Object Model's characters, which are very important for distributed applications, and then discusses the three-layer client/server model and its different kinds of physical configurations in detail.
