摘要
本文首先解释了笔者对多元人才观的认识,然后说明了在英语类专业人才培养中实施多元人才观面临的三个主要挑战:1)按照学校层次规定单一的人才培养目标不能满足学生个性化需求;2)将英语类专业的主要方向定位于语言、文学和文化不能涵盖相当一部分理工科院校和行业特色明显院校开设的英语专业点;3)现有课程设置未强调学科思维的训练,也未提供未来素质培养的途径。针对这三个挑战,笔者提出了系列建议。
The paper first explains the concept of multiple concentrations in English-based BA programmes and then discusses three major challenges faced by the English-based BA programmes with multiple concentrations.The first challenge is that if a university confines itself to a single concentration according to its academic status in China,it cannot cater to the diverse needs of the students.The second is that if it is believed that English-based BA programmes must be centered on the three concentrations:linguistics,literature and culture,then current ESP programmes offered by universities of science and technology and those with a clear professional/occupational orientation cannot be qualified as English-based BA programmes.The third challenge is that the current curricula do not emphasize the training of a disciplinary mind,nor do they specify the ways in which students can develop necessary qualities for the future.The paper offers a set of suggestions for meeting these challenges.
