Relationship between the prime minister and the imperial examination in Tang Dynasty

通过对唐代宰相与科举关系的论述,揭示出唐代科举制的主要内容以及唐代宰相对科举录取的影响:科举制是唐代一项重要的政治制度,也是唐代选官的重要方式之一;唐代科举制的内容丰富、复杂,而且有一个长期演化的过程;唐代许多宰相是通过科举进入仕途,因为学识德行、出身、政见等原因对科举的态度不尽相同,但许多人都直接或间接参与、干预科举的录取。

Based on the exposition of the relationship between the prime minister and the imperial examination in Tang Dynasty, this paper reveals the main content of imperial examinations and the influence of the prime minister on the imperial examination and official admission. Imperial examination sys- tem was an important political system and also one of the vital ways to choose officers in Tang Dynasty. The content of the imperial examination system, rich and complex, had a long process of evolution. Due to the different reasons such as learning virtue, origin, and political views, prime ministers elected by imperial examinations showed different attitudes toward this system. However, many prime ministers were directly or indirectly involved in or intervened in the imperial examination and official admission.
