Objective:To investigate the value of low-dose multisliced CT examination in the rib fractures in order to reduce radiation dose in the clinical diagnosis. Method:Eighty patients with chest trauma underwent CT examination with different CT scanning doses. All patients were randomly divided into two groups, including the conventional dose group(40 patients)and low-dose group(40 patients). The analysis of chest CT image quality, volume CT dose index and the numbers of rib fractures were done. Result:Low-dose multisliced CT image quality of the chest could meet the diagnostic requirements of rib fractures. There was no statistical significance in the diagnostic rate of rib fractures between the conventional dose group and the low-dose group(P〉0.05). The volume CT dose index in the low dose group was only 55.39%of that in conventional dose group. Conclusion:Low-dose CT image quality can meet the requirements of clinical diagnosis of rib fractures while reducing the dose of radiation received by the subjects, which is worthy of promotion of clinical application.
