摘要
本文提出了英语教学的最终目标应是通过对表面语言现象的学习,发现和整理深层的文化内容,学会正确对待异族文化和本族文化的差异和相似,引导学生掌握目标语的认知机制与其母语的不同,并透过这种不同更深刻认识客观世界或人类经验。在这一目标引导下,基于隐喻的认知功能及其与文化和一个民族思维模式的关系,提出了在英语教学中始终贯穿隐喻,在隐喻的认知功能的启示下,分析其具体机制运作规律,透过词汇看文化,剖析文化显思维,实现真正对英语的认知。
In the article, the author holds the view that the ultimate goal of English teaching should be helping students to adopt a correct attitude towards the similarities and differences between their native culture and the English culture, and guiding them to recognize the discrepancy between two different cognitive mechanisms, through which they could achieve a better insight into the world and human experience. With this overarching goal, a new approach to English teaching is suggested. That is, teaching and cognizing English with and through metaphor owing to its cognitive function and its indispensable relationship with culture and human thinking mode.
