陈东原是我国近现代著名的教育史学家。在他丰硕的中国教育史研究成果中,不仅对科举考试制度本身作了探讨,对科举的不良影响及其弊端进行了抨击,而且对废除科举考试制度提出了自己深刻的认识,从而使科举考试制度史的研究成为其中国教育史研究中的一个重要方面。

Chen Dong Yuan is a famous educational historian in modern China. As reagrd his abundant study accomplishments about the history of Chinese education, he not only refers to the imperial examination system while criticizing its ineffective disadvantages, but also puts forward a profound understanding on the abolishment of the imperial examination system. As a result, the historical study of the imperial examination system is considered as an important aspect in the study of the history of Chinese education.
