从主语突出和话题突出看英汉谚语及其翻译中的主语处理

On Subject Translation of Proverbs in Chinese and English from the Perspective of Subject-prominence and Topic-prominence

从英语的主语突出和汉语的话题突出的特点出发,对部分英汉谚语及其互译进行了比较分析,发现英语谚语和汉语谚语英译充分体现了主语突出的特点;汉语谚语和英语谚语汉译则充分体现了话题突出的特点.在英汉谚语互译时,译者常采取转换主语、增补或删减主语等方式;英语谚语的主语是必不可少的;汉语谚语则常省略主语,各种话题句式的频繁使用也是谚语的特点.

This paper discusses some English proverbs and Chinese proverbs from the perspective of subject- prominence and topic-prominence. The result reviews that subject-prominence also features English proverbs and topic-prominence, Chinese proverbs. Translators often take the methods such as changing the subjects, adding or omitting subjects to make a better English and Chinese proverb translation. Generally speaking, subject is necessary is English or English translated proverbs, but not in Chinese or Chinese translated proverbs
