The causes and hazards of the high light component content in the production plant that using heat con- ducting oil as heating medium, the principle of online removing the light component were introduced. A new process and a new set of equipment was developed to online remove the light component in the heat conducting oil system, in the case of the production plant not stopping. The flash point of the heat conducting oil was increased, the high- level tank temperature was decreased, the generation of light component was reduced, the loss and energy consump- tion was decreased,the safety hidden danger was eliminated,the system operation was more stable.
