从差异的伦理看文学翻译标准的多元性——以《西游记》翻译为例

On Pluralism of Translation Criteria for Literary Works from Differentiated Ethics— A Case Study of Translating The Journey to the West

翻译作为一种社会行为离不开伦理的关照,而语言文化的差异性、诗学传统的个性、语义的开放性、阐释的历史性、译者的主体性、以及翻译过程的复杂性造就了差异的翻译伦理,那么翻译就不能在传统的一元标准下进行。在当前跨文化背景下,尊重差异采用多元标准是翻译《西游记》等文学作品的必然要求。

Translation is an ethically connected social communication where language and cultural differences, unique- ness of poetics, openness of semantics, subjectivity of translators, historicity of interpretation and complexity of its process are interwoven to give rise to the disparity of its ethics. Consequently, traditional uniform criterion is not applica- ble to the current cross-cultural situation which inevitably requires pluralized criteria for literary works like The Journey to the West on the premise of showing respect to the differences.
