Transportation is the artery of modern city, and also is the ＂main street＂ between cities. Transportation plays an important role in the development of cities. The rise of ancient Yangzhou mainly benefits from the Grand Canal which was digged and dredged in the Sui Dynasty. Railway, the modem western vehicle, is the direct reason for the decline of Yangzhou. The high-speed railway changes not only the backward means of transportation, but also the form, structure and function of the city, which requires all industries and all walks of life in Yangzhou have mental and physical preparation for upgrading and updating. The key is how to coordinate the rapidly developing traffic engineering and other aspects of urban community. Cultural city shall be the preferred strategic target of Yangzhou.
