Objective: To observe the changes of serum active renin and Angiotensin II in chronicity stress depression model rat and the interference of electroacupuncture to them so as to explore the function of the reninangiotensin system between depression and cardiovascular disease. Methods: The chronic unpredictable mild stress combined with solitarily feeding method was used to make the depression model. The locomotor activity of rats in blank control group, model control group, electro-acupuncture group and fluoxetine group were observed by open-field experiment. Serum active renin and Ang II levels were determined by using enzyme-linked immunoab- sorbent assay. Results: The cross and rear scores of the model group were significantly lower than those of the blank group, while electro-acupuncture and fluoxetine reversed it. Levels of active renin and Ang II in serum in model group were higher than those in the control group. Electro-acupuncture and fluoxetine were obvious to improve those pathological changes. Conclusion: Circulatory pisma RAS are activated excessive in chronicity stress depression model rats. The electro-acupuncture and fluoxetine can improve those pathological changes.
