The predecessor of China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing Art School, is the first modem China National School of Fine Arts. From the viewpoint of comparative art education, the Department of Design has its pro- totype in Japan. It followed the two-part establishment of the Department of Design in Tokyo Fine Arts School, sim- plified the new curriculum of plate making and took the Department of Industrial Design of Tokyo Higher Technical School for reference. An in-depth understanding of the early development process of China Central Academy of Fine Arts can enrich the study of Chinese comparative art education and the history of Art University.
