摘要
本研究从本土化的视角出发,探讨了通识教育在美国大学中源起及发展的轨迹,提出了美国大学通识教育是以其实用主义等本土文化及现实问题为基础,对英国传统的自由教育进行发展变革的观点。文章进一步指出,理性看待课程的实用化、调和学术文化变革、培育知识责任、培养世界公民是本土化后美国大学通识教育的主要内涵。文章最后对通识教育在中国大学的本土化提出了建议。
Upon reviewing the origin and development of general education in American universities lrom a localization perspective, the paper points out that general education is a result of localization of the British-style liberal education based on the culture and reality of the United States. A rational perspective on practical courses, the restriction on research culture, the consideration on the responsibility of knowledge, and the aim of cultivating global citizens, constitute the connotation of American general education. The paper also puts forward several suggestions for the localization of general education in China.
