On July 15,2008,Tsinghua University received into its collection a batch of Warring States Bamboo slips dating to around 300 BCE that had been previously smuggled out of China.Known as the‘Tsinghua Bamboo Slips’清華簡(TBS),they form a group of bamboo manuscripts with traditional Chinese texts,categorized as‘Classics’Jīng(經)and‘Histories’Shǐ(史),such as the Shangshu尚書(‘Classic of Documents’),the Shijing詩經(‘Classic of Songs’)and the Yijing易經(‘Classic of Changes’).The majority of the manuscripts also contain texts previously unknown for more than two thousand years,and they are,therefore,truly precious historical artifacts of the highest scholarly value.
