The Origin of Culture

文化是生活方式的道说,而生活方式是愿望与环境妥协的结果。环境划定了愿望的边界,但愿望突破为之划定疆域的愿望永不熄灭。人类不可化约的愿望有三:效率、公正与终极关怀。它们和具体环境的遭遇产生了东西方特定的、悠久的、难以改变的文化样式。

Culture is the exposition of lifestyle while lifestyle is the compromise result of wishes and environment. Environment has limited the boundries of wishes,but wishes can never stop the effort to break the limits. Efficiency,justice and ultimate concern are three irreducible wishes of human beings. The encounter between them and concrete environment produces the special,long-history and unchangeable cultural patters of eastern and western countries.
