Chinese Culture in Western Translation Studies——Examples and Discussion on Chinese Cultural Discourse in Western Translation Studies

当代西方翻译理论家并没有忽略中国的翻译传统,对克服欧美中心主义,消解中国文化相对于欧美文化的边缘状态有十分积极的作用。这固然可喜,但西方翻译学者笔下的中国文化话语总有些变形或欠缺,或有西方色彩,摆脱不了西方视角。文章举例指出并说明这些问题的原因,表明中国文化应有的立场。

Chinese thinking and tradition in translation have caught the attention of the Western scholars of Transla- tion Studies. This is beneficial to overcome the European and American centeredness and improve the influence of Chi- nese culture. But Chinese culture is viewed and discussed with certain distortion or western perspective in the Western studies. In this paper, the author gives examples to show the reasons of this distortion from the standpoint of the native scholar of Chinese culture.
