褶皱是面料设计中常用的塑形手法,在服装服饰设计、家居产品设计、室内设计等领域被广泛运用,在皮具设计领域也不例外。褶皱已成为重要的设计元素,在皮具产品的表面利用褶皱增加装饰效果,或利用褶皱强化实用功能。本文主要从褶皱的理论研究出发,首先探讨了褶皱的定义与种类,然后深入分析褶皱的功能,最后结合设计实例分析褶皱在皮具产品设计中的运用。

Pleat is one of commonly used shaping techniques in fabric design, and it is widely used in ap-parel design, home product design, interior design and also leather product design. Pleat had become an important design element in leather products design in order to enhance surface decorative effect or to strengthen practical function. This article explored the definition and types of pleats at first, and then ana-lyzed the function of pleat in detail from the theoretical investigation viewpoint. Finally, application of pleating technique in leather product design was discussed with design examples.
