美国公共政策学的发展特色与经验主要有:重视对美国本土公共政策实践问题的研究;重视理论与实践相结合;注重研究方法论的多元化和跨学科研究;重视公共政策学分支学科的发展;公共政策学科获得政府的充分支持。分析美国公共政策学现状,我们也可以从中得到中国公共政策学发展的启示与借鉴:应当立足于对中国公共政策实践以及现实政策问题的调查研究;既要重视基础理论研究,又要重视应用研究;必须汲取其他学科的养料,加强跨学科研究;必须重视研究方法的多样化和科学化发展;必须重视研究领域的分化,发展分支学科,构建学科体系;必须积极争取政府及社会各界的大力支持。
