Determination of Diethylmercury in Sediment by Gas Chromatography-Atomic Absorption Spectrometry with Horizontal Pipe Mini-Flame Atomizer Equipment

A new method has been proposed for the determination of diethylmercury in sediment by gas chromatography -atomic absorption spectrometry with horizontal pipe mini-flame atomizer equipment. The samples treated with EDTA were entracted with n-octane and centrifugalized. The concentrated organic solution was injected into GC-AAS system for analysis. Diethylmercury content in sediment samples was determined satisfacterily with a relative sdandard diviation of 1.4% and a detection limit of 3.5×10-11 g.
