摘要
"五四"前后的新旧戏之争是清末民初戏曲改良运动的延续。民国初期政治的动荡和文明戏的失败则是这场论辩发生的直接原因。这场论辩本质上是《新青年》派精心策划的新闻宣传活动,其目的是为了打破戏曲在舞台上的统治地位,为话剧在中国的发展扫清障碍。《新青年》派希望话剧能够代替戏曲成为民众启蒙的工具。这便是新旧戏之争的最终目的。
The battle of old and new drama in May 4th Movement was the continuation of the reform movement at the end of Qing Dynasty. The political chaos in Republic of China and failure of civilized drama were the direct causes of the debates. The nature of the debates on Xin qingnian was a promotional activity with purpose. Its purpose was to break the dominance of the opera on stage, and to pave the way for the development of drama in China. The camp of Xin qingnian hoped that drama would become the tool of enlightening the public. This is the ultimate purpose of the debates.
