The Implications of John Dewey's “Learning-by-Doing”on TEFL in Middle Schools

教育的最终目的是为了促进社会的发展和进步,教育结果与社会生活如果不能较好地结合,那么教育就失去了它本身应有的意义。英语作为教学的一门基础课,应以培养学生的实际应用英语语言的能力为目标,强调英语教学的实用性和针对性,而长期以来形成的"填鸭式"教学模式已不能适应现今英语教学的需要。结合英语课堂现状论述杜威"从做中学"的教学原则对英语教学的启示,对于优化英语教学模式,实现英语课程教学目标有着重要的现实意义。

The objective of education is to promote the development and progress of society. Education should be combined with society. As a basic course, English teaching should focus on the language skills and emphasize on its practical applications. On the basis of analysis on the current situation of TEFL, the present papers explores the implications of Dewey＇ s ＂Learning - by - Doing＂ on TEFL for the optimization of English teaching model.
