Paradise, a novel by Morrison, is permeated with political atmosphere. Racism interweaves with sexism, forming a power network, which takes in those diagnosed as abnormal persons, such as the black and the female. By means of food distribution and the image of the cannibal, power effectively and successfully punishes and disciplines those abnormal persons. However, omnipresent power is not omnipotent. Facing the refined control of power, the women in the novel adopt food as the battlefield to fight against power.
