科学实践观是正确认识社会主义本质的方法论前提。遵循实践的观点,我们在认识社会主义本质时,就应当从社会主义的具体实践出发,即从社会主义实践的现实特点、历史条件和总的联系出发,而不是从某种超验的观念出发。社会主义本质论的演变,经历了一个从书本到实践,又从实践到书本,再从书本到实践的过程。这一过程说明,只有从实践出发,才能正确地把握社会主义本质,从观念出发,势必陷入认识误区。同时,社会主义本质论作为社会主义实践最高层面的概括,能够为社会主义发展提供根本方向上的指导和根本的价值取向。

The viewpoint of scientific practice is the methodology premise of understanding the essence of socialism correctly. To follow the viewpoint of practice, when we understand socialism essence we should start from the concrete practice of socialism, namely, from the realistic characteristics, historical conditions and general contact of socialist practice, rather than starting from some transcendental concept. The theory of socialism essence has experienced an evolutionary process that from books to practice, from practice to books, then from books to practice again. This process shows that only starting from the practice can we correctly grasp the socialism essence, starting from the concept is bound to a misunderstanding. At the same time, as the highest generalization of socialist practice, the theory of socialism essence provides the guidance of basic direction and the basic value orientation for the socialist development.
