Because of the high price of commercial simulation software and its closed code, many military simulation developments have turned to open source software. Delta3D is an all-purpose simulation engine for games and simulation developed by US navy, which integrates many different kinds of open source software, and has a great influence on military simulation. The modules which are composed of Delta3D are introduced. The basic framework of a Delta3D application, and some advices on development are also given.
