In its boldly revised and imagined history,The Woman Warrior blurs the boundary between history and literature and shows that history is actually a narrative. Historical narratives provide? a reference for individuals to construct their identity. By writing the history of Chinese Americans,Maxine Hong Kingston breaks the American historical community's silence on and neglect of the Chinese Americans and thus foregrounds the politicalness of historical writing.
