On the Diversification of Sericulture Industry

目前我国蚕桑产业正面临耕地面积减少、劳动力短缺、国内外市场竞争激烈以及产业比较效益下降等严峻的挑战,大力发展多元化蚕桑产业是实现产业转型升级和可持续发展的必由之路。在总结蚕桑多元化产业现状及存在问题的基础上,提出蚕桑产业的多元化重点是拓展动物饲料产业、生态桑及蚕丝文化产业、蚕桑食药用产业、生物质材料产业、蚕桑生物技术产业和蚕沙资源化利用产业。

At present, Chinese sericulture industry is facing various challenges including shortage of farmland and labor, intense competition in domestic and foreign markets, and decline of industrial comparative profit. To develop diversified sericulture industry vigorously is the only way to restructure and upgrade sericulture industry and to achieve sustainable development. Based on current issues and problems in diversifying sericulture industry, we suggest that emphases should be laid on expanding usage of mulberry in animal feed industry and for ecological reconstruction, on establishing silk cultural industry, on expanding usage of silkworm and mulberry in food and medicine industry, on developing novel biological materials, on innovating sericulture biotechnology, and on utilizing silkworm feces resources so as to achieve successful diversification of sericulture industry.
