Tourism sector produced more carbon emissions in the tertiary industry. With the advancement of tourism sector and the positive action against global wanning, research on the development of low - carbon tourism had aroused great concern of scholars in the world, and the concept of low - carbon tourism emerged as a result. Based on the objective of the research on low - carbon tourism, this paper summarized the characteristics through the literature review on domestic and foreign research, and the future direction of research was presented on account of the deficiency of the current research in order to provide the reference and suggestions for in - depth study and practice of low - carbon tourism.
