Scientific connotation of Xin'an medicine

新安医家秉持新安程朱理学"格物致知"的思维传统,以穷理明道为本务,不迷信、不盲从,实事求是、理性探索,不断地融会贯通、引申发明、推衍深化、总结归纳,积极探寻和阐发医学新知,努力把握人体生理病理和疾病诊治的规律,提出了一系列富有科学价值的新概念、新学说,充实和丰富了中医药学的科学内涵,为中医药学理论体系的构建和完善做出了不可磨灭的贡献,也有力地驳斥了中医不科学的论调。包括新安医学在内的中医学乃至其他传统科学,应当赋予"格物致知"以新的内涵,吸收科学实验等新方法,以进一步充实、完善和发展自己的知识体系。

Xin＇an doctors insiste to the traditional thought of Xin＇an Cheng Zhu orthodox theory ＇knowledge and purpose＇, taking investigation of things and extension of knowledge as the fundamental task, avoiding blind following, seeking truth from facts, exploring rationally, achieving mastery through a comprehensive study of the subject, deducing and inventing, concluding laws, actively discovering and explaining the new knowledge in medicine and making efforts to well understand the law of human physical pathology and disease treatment. It comes up with a series of valuable concepts and doctrines, enriching and diversifying the connotation of traditional Chinese medicine, contributing a lot to the construction and improvement of traditional Chinese medicine system and powerfully rebating the view of non-scientific traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine including Xin＇an and other medicine schools should endow ＇knowledge and purpose＇ with new connotations, take in new methods such as scientific experiment so as to further enrich, improve and develop the knowledge system of their own.
