Starting with the performance analysis and the material selection of the bolster hous- ing, introduction is made to the manufacturing cost of the hoister housing proportioned in the package of the spindle. The comprehensive analysis of the manufacturing process of the bolster housing proves that application of the seperated process design of the bolster and the bolster flange can markedly increase the availability of the material. It is forecasted that the steel bol- ster housing will be in the dominated position in substitution of the bolster housing of cast-i- ron. Enterprises should attach importance to the product design and the process design.
