Myths of Grain-stealing: Myths of Millet Origin in Taiwan Residents Aboriginals

台湾原住民的谷物起源神话独具特色,与英雄盗谷种神话相似,却自成一格,在其他民族中并不多见。他们的粟种神话大都讲述粟种自远方他界偷来,说明粟种非原来所有,偷盗正是强调获得粟种艰辛不易。自他界盗回粟种的情节或许说明原住民原非农耕民族,是以狩猎采集为主,后来才有粟种栽培文化。

Abstract：Myths of grains in Taiwan Residents aboriginals mostly talked about some people getting to the underground by accident or to a far place where these people stole millet seeds and owned millets ever since. The origins of mil- lets always involve thieveries, implying that millets are taken from others from far away rather than originally be- ing owed by these people. The thieveries are indicative of the difficulty in acquiring millet seeds. The peoples with myths of millet origins all have solemn millet ceremonies; that is, millet ceremonies are reflected in myths of millet origins among various peoples.
