摘要
萧公权先生是一位"融合中西两个伟大学术传统的菁华",在政治学、历史学、哲学界均享有盛誉的学者。其少时接受中国传统国学教育启蒙,后考入教会中学和清华学校接受新式教育,民国九年留学美国密苏里大学和康奈尔大学,获博士学位。作为民国时期留美生的个案,通过分析其早年所受中国传统国学教育、新式学堂教育的文化背景,及其问学美国的经历,归国又赴美的学术转承,将萧先生的教育经历作为一个微观视角,可以获得对民国时期留美学生更加细致、生动的了解。
XIA0 Gong-quan was a genius who combined the essence of Chinese and western academic traditions. He enjoyed popularity in the fields of political science, history and philosophy. He had received traditional ancient Chinese education as enlightenment since infancy. Then he received modem education when he entered a missionary middle school and Tsinghua. Later he went to study in University of Missouri and Comell University in America. XIAO Gong-quan's learning experience is studied from a microcosmic perspective, through which we can obtain more detailed and vivid understanding of the students who studied abroad in the United States during the period of the Republic of China.
