介绍了谱方法的产生、发展、广泛的理论及应用前景，并比较了它与有限差分方法、有限元方法的优劣。
This paper is focused on giving an account of the emergence development and extensively theoretical and applicative prospects of the spectral method and compares it with the other two methods namely the finite difference method and the finite element method in terms of their merits and demerits．
