This paper offers an introduction to the architectural design of Xiamen Banlam Grand Theater, which is a unique cultural building embedded in an urban complex of the city＇s CBD area. The author points out that injecting more cultural contents intothe not-for-direct-profit space of commercial complex is a new trend in future CBD development to create a more convenient relationship that connects working, shopping and high-end cultural life.
