This paper introduces the concept and major characteristics of the knowledge eco nomy. On this base, this paper also analyses the effects on geography of the coming of the knowledge economy, emphatically probes into the several problems:regional study in geogarphy in the age of knowledge economy; the comprehensive study of geography in the age of the knowledge economy; the methodes of geographic study in the age of the knowledge economy and believes that the fundamental concepts of geography will be changed as the space, region, and so on,and that the new technology and synthetical methods will be introduced to geography continously.
