Sound level and its frequency spectrum were determined while the symphony orchestra of a philharmonic orchestra gave instrumental performance. The sound was broad-band, unsteady state and over 40% performing time the equivalent sound level (Leq) was more than 90 dB (A) . Audibility of 78 performers (156 ears) were tested. The percentages of hearing impairment at high frequencies were 25%, 37%, 56.1% respectively in different groups (working period: ≤15 years, 16-30 years, >30 years) . The percentages of hearing impairment at speech frequencies were 0, 3.7%, 9.1% respectively. The results indicated that even if people exposed to music hearing loss also would occure if the intensity of music sound was high enough and the exposure time was too long.
