五官掾探微

A Probe into Wuguanyuan

自两汉至南北朝,五官掾是太守最重要的属吏之一,若干中央官员的衙署中也有五官掾。在郡级建制中,五官掾总揽各种事务,地位与权势仅功曹可与之相比。五官掾的地位不断发生变化,隋代地方行政与中央官制大变革直接导致了五官掾的最终消亡。

Wuguanyuan was one of the most important affiliated officials of the Taishou （prefect） from the Han Dynasty to the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The post of Wuguanyuan was also set in some central government offices. In the prefecture system,the Wuguanyuan dominated a variety of administrative affairs,and only the Gongcao （a kind of magistrate） could be compared with their status and power. The position of Wuguanyuan had been constantly changing. The great change of local administration and the central bureaucracy in the Sui Dynasty led directly to the ultimate demise of the Wuguanyuan.
