On the Road is the representative work of Jack Kerouac who is regarded as the repre- sentative writer of the Beat Generation and people pass different judgments on it. Based on Zen, a unique perspective, the paper gives a brand --new analysis of the novel and draws a conclusion that the Beat Generation never beat.
