The Picaresque Novels and Maqmāt

Maqmāt and the Picaresque Novels written by Morocco scholar Muhammad Aqqāl initiated a debate about the originality of picaresque novels,which were once thought to be'the most original literature'of Spain.Based on his view,and by listing the similarities between these two styles of literature,this essay tries to explore the possible relationship between them.
