Analysis of Sisterhood in Gloria Naylor's Novel “The Women of Brewster Place”

The paper mainly analyzes the sisterhood of the black female characters in ＂The Women of Brewster Place＂, a representative novel by the contemporary African-American female writer, Gloria Naylor. It is the sisterhood that helps the black women to endure and fight against the oppression from the patriarchy. However, such alliance can not bring radical change to their lives. In addition, the exclusive women alliance brutally excludes the lesbians and the black men. The paper reveals the limitations of the sisterhood among the black women as well as approves its advantages.
