Talking about the Creative Features of Argumentative Prose in Southern Dynasties

南朝论体文数量颇多,题材内容多样,从内容上来看,诸作或纵论国家长治久安之计,或畅谈佛学理趣,或评述帝王为政之策略,或借论性命穷达以抒发对现实的不满,或抨击虚伪势利的世风,或赞颂先贤的高尚品行等。从形式上来看,诸文或骈或散,骈体论文讲究藻采、用典、声律、对偶,具有较高的审美价值;散体论文句式灵活多样,分析透辟,见解精深。

There were a number of argumentative proses which had varied themes and contents in Southern Dynasties. From the content perspective ,the writings discussed the peaceful strategies for the country, talked about the rational interest of Buddhism, reviewed emperor＇ s managerial policy, expressed the discontent to the reality by means of explaining the poor and unobstructed life, attacked the deceptive, snobbish atmosphere in society, praised the noble morality of the sages, etc. From the point of view of form, the odd style and the par- allel style existed in the writings. The argumentative prose which adopted parallel style had luxuriant words, numerous allusions, harmonious syllables and delicate antithesis, manifesting the high aesthetic value. Those argumentative proses which adopted odd style had flexible sentence types, thorough analysis and deep insights.
