传统师范大学是与我国长期实行的封闭式师范教育体制紧密联系在一起的一种办学形式，自身存在着一定的局限。随着我国社会主义现代化的迅速推进和高等教育改革的不断深入，这种局限日益凸显，给师范大学的进一步发展带来了一系列困难和问题。适应现代大学的发展特点和未来师范教育的要求，师范大学应努力实现由传统模式向现代综合性大学的转变。

The traditional normal university is a form of running a school which is closely osaxiatedwith the closed system of teochers edning, a system that has been prnctital over Q long Peried of timein our country. It has certain limitations in itself.As our country's socialist modemization has rapidlybeen odvancing and the reform in higher education hos ben developing in a deep-going way, theselimitations have become all the more sticking out, peing a series of difficult problems to the furtherdevelopmnt of normal universihes. In order to keep abreast of characteristic development of modemuniversities and meet the demands of future normal education, great efforts should be made to realize theshifting of normal universities from the traditional type to the type of modern university.
