In this paper, the development of the segmentally launching method in the highway bridge construction in PRC is reviewed and the characteristics of some bridges concerned are explained. Such as the launching on multi elastic supports with two P.C. trusses on each main pier in the Wanjiang bridge and Qiudun bridge, the multi-point launching on flexibe piers in the Weishui River bridge, the launching on vertical curve in Zhongtang bridge, as well as the launching with temporary piers in each middle span in the Baotou Yellow River bridge and the Liuzhou bridge. Finally, the main technical problems in the design and construction are also discussed.
