On Academic Pursuit of Practicality and Erudition in Miscellaneity of Lushui Pavilion

纳兰性德在自序中明确指出《渌水亭杂识》"以备说家之浏览"为编撰目的,但由于受到明清易代之际学风以及学术传承的影响,《渌水亭杂识》在一定程度上也反映了清学奠基时代尚实崇博的学术追求。纳兰性德尚实与崇博的追求,既是时代风气的一种反映,也是其"肆力经济之学"渴求建功立业、有用于世的人生追求在学术层面的体现。

Though explicitly expressed in the preface that the purpose of compiling Miscellaneity of Lushui Pavilion is ＂for literati to refer to＂, due to the influence of academic tradition and learning atmosphere in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Miscellaneity of Lushui Pavilion, in some respects, reflects the academic pursuit of practicality and erudition. As for Nalan Xingde, this pursuit of practicality and erudition is a reflection of the atmosphere and an expression of his ＂devotion to the nation＂, longing for establishing achievement, doing good for the world, at the academic level.
